Riverhorse Valley

Riverhorse Valley is a light industrial, mainly manufacturing and warehousing and commercial business precinct. It measures 150 hectares in size and spans between the East and West side of the N2 freeway. The main landmarks identifying the Estate are the two petro-ports and eThekwini Hospital and Heart Centre at the Queen Nandi Drive interchange which is the main access and egress point to the Estate.

A joint venture partnership between eThekwini Municipality and Tongaat Hulett to develop and sell the sites was formed in June 2000 and construction commenced on the new link road, the bridge over the Umhlangane River, and the Queen Nandi Drive interchange, as well as the internal roads and site services in 2002. The majority of infrastructure was completed by 2008.

The site is made up of parcels of land from the surrounding suburbs of Effingham, Greenwood Park, Avoca and Newlands East and cannot actually lay claim to belonging to any one of these established suburbs and as such exists as the suburb of Riverhorse Valley.

Some of the notable businesses based in the area are Mr Price Group Afrox, Samsung, Unilever, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, RTT, Massmart, DHL and Waltons.

The big plus for this area is the easy access to all the arterial routes via the new link road, the two bridges over the Umhlangane River and the Queen Nandi Drive interchange.
