Baywest City - "The Pulse of the Bay"

Baywest City is the first of its kind for the Eastern Cape - a state-of-the-art mixed-use retail, business and lifestyle development in the western suburbs of Nelson Mandela Bay.

Modelled on successful live-work-play developments such as Durban's Gateway and Cape Town's Century City, Baywest City is conveniently situated adjacent to the N2 freeway.

This new urban node epitomises the modern lifestyle and is fast becoming an exciting new gateway to the city of Port Elizabeth.

The 320ha precinct, aptly referred to as "The Pulse of the Bay", is a multi-billion rand development by Billion Group.

Baywest Mall was the catalyst for the first phase of development, which also saw a R250-million upgrade to the surrounding road infrastructure.

Connecting to the city's existing freeway network, the precinct is no more than 20 minutes' drive from anywhere in Port Elizabeth.

Around a quarter of the land will remain undeveloped, allowing for pockets of protected environmental urban parks between the spatial developments.

OFFICE BLOCK
The Eastern Cape's first green-rated commercial office building is currently under construction. This three-storey, purpose-built block carries a five-star as built rating from the Green Building Council of South Africa.

OFFICE PARK
Also scheduled for construction in the latter part of the year is the precinct's second A-grade office development, featuring high-speed fibre connectivity and ample basement as well as ground-level parking.

Known as Shoreward Chambers, the office park will be targeting a four-star green certification for environmentally sensitive design.
Offering a gross lettable area of 8 000m2, the office park gives prospective tenants the chance to occupy anything from 150m2 to an entire building, depending on their unique business needs.

HOSPITAL
A well-known healthcare service provider will look after the well being of Baywest City patrons with the establishment of a private hospital in the precinct.

FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS

CONVENIENCE SERVICE STATION
In addition, travellers will soon be able to take advantage of a 24-hour Engen 1-Stop convenience service station - offering a brief respite on their journey ahead.
